KDJA RM10,000 richer, thanks to Tiong

KUCHING: Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) is now RM10,000 richer, thanks to Bintulu MP and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for generously giving out the grant.

The money was presented personally by Tiong to KDJA president Sulok Tawie during SPDP Media Nite here on Friday.

The event which was also attended by Mas Gading MP Anthony Nogeh, Baram MP Anyie Ngau, several other party supreme council members and more than 250 journalists from the news and print media based in Kuching.

Aimed at fostering closer rapport and understanding between the party leaders and reporters, the Media Nite was an exciting affair with everyone in very high spirit.

Tiong, in particular, used fully the opportunity to mingle around and talk with members of the press.

Adding excitement to the event, apart from the plentiful foods and drinks were the lucky draws and singing contest which offered attractive prizes.

In the karaoke singing contest Robert Kenneth from Bernama (National News Agency) with his number ‘Camelia’ bagged  RM1,000 after he emerged champion while Peter Sibon and Kadam Saai, both from The Borneo Post, emerged first and second runners-up to bring home RM750 and RM500 respectively.

Fifteen participants from various media organisations took part in the singing competition.
