Indonesian worker beaten up and dumped in drain

The factory worker who was attacked and abandoned at a drain in Pending being wheeled to the treatment ward.

KUCHING: An Indonesian ice factory worker was not only beaten up in a group attack but was then dumped in a drain in an unconscious state in Pending here on Saturday night.

It was a double blow for him as his wallet containing RM2,000 cash and  his mobile phone were also stolen during the incident.

The worker was walking back alone to his rented house after shopping at a departmental store when he was attacked by about 10 people.

The victim only gained consciousness early yesterday and managed to return to the house and informed his housemate and colleagues.

They immediately alerted their boss who rushed him to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.

A police report had also been lodged pertaining to the matter.

In a separate case, an Indonesian man was badly injured on the neck after being slashed with a sharp object believed to be a parang (machete) when he tried to defend himself in a robbery at a rented house at Mile 9, Kuching-Serian Road on Saturday night.

His two friends at the house were not injured but had their mobile phones taken by the robbers.

According to sources, the victim was at the living room when two robbers stormed into the house.

The victim was immediately sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.

The case had been referred to the police and is being investigated.
