KAPIT: Parents play  an important role in their children’s education, said political secretary to the chief minister Jefferson Jamit.

According to him, they should start to monitor and help their children with their studies even from the primary school level.

“Parents and guardians play a very important role in laying a sound foundation for their children’s education.

“Your positive attitude and spending quality time with the children help to instil good discipline and cultivate their interest in learning and gaining knowledge,” he said when officiating at the prize and school leaving certificate presentation ceremony of SK Nanga Enchermin on Friday.

He encouraged parents to attend school functions to show to their children that they care about their performance.

While congratulating the school for its achievements, Jefferson thanked the teachers for their dedication, commitment and sacrifice to educate and guide their students in their studies.

Among others attending the function were a representative from Kapit Education Department Philip Baginda and the school’s headmistress Jee Sin Lian.
