SIBU: An advertisement designer accompanied by his teacher yesterday lodged a police report, claiming he received an extortion via telephone from purported former gangsters ‘Lee Long’, ‘Luo Han’ and ‘Ang Ho’.

The teacher lodged a similar report. The 29-year-old designer, surnamed Lau, said he received a call from a man claiming to be Ang Ho at 10.30am yesterday, but hung up his phone as he was parking his car.

He said he got a second phone call at 11.20am from another man, Luo Han, who claimed to be Ang Ho’s associate.

Lau was told to deposit RM1,400 in the bank account of a police officer then get his money back at Lee Long’s home. He received a call from the purported Ang Ho 20 minutes later, demanding him to deposit the money. He said the caller threatened him with assault if his demand was not met.

The flustered complainant said the caller warned him that he would shoot him like he had shot dead ‘Lau Leh Hing’. Leh Hing was gunned down in 2012. The complainant, who has an advertising company, said his two women staff also received a threatening call from the same caller. He said the caller had also threatened to smash up his office.

“The calls from the two men had come from 011333206188, 01134103335, 01133372812,” he claimed. Lau said he advised his teacher to lodge a police report when he was told the teacher too had received such calls.
