KUCHING: Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2015 to be held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year is open for registration from now until Dec 31.
Eighteen participants will be selected for the grand finals of the beauty pageant organised by Alaric’s Productions Company.
It will be held here from Feb 27 to March 6, next year.
“We invite all Malaysian Chinese single ladies aged 18 to 25 years old to take part in this prestigious pageant,” Alaric’s Productions Company founder Alaric Soh said at a press conference at Four Points Hotel yesterday.
During the finals to be held at Four Points Hotel, each participant will parade in Cheongsam and traditional wear besides giving a talent performance that includes singing and dancing.
The winner will win RM5,000, followed by the first runner-up (RM2,000), second runner-up (RM1,000), third runner-up (RM800) and fourth runner-up (RM500).
There will be five subsidary titles: Best Cheongsam Wear (RM500), Miss Talent (RM300), Miss Personality (RM300), Miss Photogenic (RM300) and Miss Friendship (RM300).
This is the 25th year the event is held to raise funds for the old folks home and Chung Hua schools in the state.
“We hope more people from Sarawak would take this opportunity to participate and win this pageant as none from Sarawak has been crowned since 2005,” Soh said.
For participants outside this city, the organisers will provide a return air-ticket, hotel accommodation and contest attire.
Training in catwalk, stage presentation, makeup and grooming will be provided by Alaric Beauty Academy.
Pageant advisor Jacqueline Ngu, a former Miss Malaysia/World 1993, said the event would give participants a chance to gain experience, attain self-confidence and make friends.
