New chapter beckons on opening of UPP Bengoh branch

KUCHING: The official opening of United People’s Party (UPP) Bengoh branch on Monday
heralds a new chapter for the state constituency.

Bengoh assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Public Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil is now the branch’s chairman. He will be assisted by his deputy Wadel Boyod and Chong Shin Kon (vice chairman I), Wilson Mapus (vice chairman II) and Gula @ Sawoi Anee (vice chairman II).

Pui Shak Shin is now the branch secretary and will be assisted by Lawrence Desar (assistant secretary I) and Horn Jed (assistant secretary II).

The line-up for the 2015-2018 term also includes Siaw Foh Hin (treasurer), Atet Lekeng (assistant treasurer), Aris Bleh (organising secretary), Miin Sumor (assistant organising secretary), Lipik Sarau (publicity secretary), Hall Jamun (assistant publicity secretary), Noing Samut (training secretary), Dick Rutun (assistant training secretary), Amat Jais Dunga (welfare officer) and Goh Beng Chuan (assistant welfare officer).

Ordinary committee members are Patrick Nuon Sawak, Sapis Daun, Sinung Samiew, Cosmas Oh Kok Loong, Sangku Tugas, Christina Jana, Abam Asoi, Davis Nawang, Jesse Emmanuel Barker, Christine James Bari, Dantee Temik, Temu Kipli, Abdullah Haron, Burshra Kipli, Abdul Aziz Abdullah @ Juos Dorek, Peter Suhin Tahu, John Banda Ngeduk, Suruk Majim, Nambeng Jawah and Lingam Monot.

As for the Women’s movement of the branch, the list includes Sawai Anee (chairperson), Miin Semur (deputy chairperson I), Ong Bee Hoon (vice chairperson I), Lejan (vice chairperson II), Sylvia Mikiu (secretary), Nusa Kok Nyee (assistant secretary I), Nomie Tandok (treasurer), Agnes Winnie (assistant treasurer), Baliana Reson (organising secretary), Nedo Ojek (assistant organising secretary), Miboi Nobeb (publicity secretary), Catherine Bidi (assistant publicity secretary), Jimin Wao (training secretary), Jiriet Naway (assistant training secretary), Teresa Akek (welfare officer), Joid Katok (committee member), Nobim Asui (committee member), Chin Chai Ing (committee member),
Hamidah Bujang (committee member) and Jelina Pilam (committee member).

A dinner function was organised on Monday in Siburan to unveil the new branch. Those who attended the dinner included Dr Jerip himself, Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa and Opar assemblyman Ranum Mina.

According to Wadel from Kampung Braang Bayur, who is a Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) councillor, the opening of the branch would bring a bright future for the people. “I believe that the people here (in Bengoh) are excited to see a new party representing them from now on.

“I want to assure the people of Bengoh that they made the right choice in supporting UPP,” he spoke in a speech at the function.

With approximately 900 registered members, Bengoh UPP has seven sub-branches and 47 polling districts.
