Curtin Sarawak organises wushu camp

MIRI: A 5-day wushu training camp will be organised by Curtin University, Sarawak from Nov 30 to Dec 4 at the university’s auditorium.

The camp provides intensive training for young exponents to improve their skills. It also aims to help promote wushu as an art, cultural and traditional sport among members of the public.

Renowned exponents invited to train the participants include William Bong Kuet Jung, assistant coach at Wushu Elite Centre in Kuching and bronze medalist at the Sarawak Wushu Championship 2001 and Sia Sio Peng, founder of VR Wushu Academy in Johore.

Sia participated in the 1999 Beijing International Wushu Invitational Tournament and holds an international Wushu judge’s license.

The camp is sponsored by Curtin Sarawak Student Council, Yong Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Service Centre, Lik Tian Contractor and Wu Cha 18.
