KUCHING: A man charged with exploiting a Vietnamese male worker was ordered to enter his defence by a Sessions Court here.

Judge Dayang Ellyna Narisa Abang Ahmad found that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against Lo Ah Chai who had allegedly exploited the foreigner working in a light industrial area at Jalan Batu Kitang here last April 7.

Lo was originally charged with a friend and his daughter. The other two accused Lo Siew Chin and Tia Boon Kiok, who are Lo’s daughter and friend respectively, were discharged and acquitted after the trial yesterday.

The judge set Dec 18 for Lo who was represented by defence counsel Lim Lian Kee.

Lo faces a charge under Section 14 of the Anti-Human Trafficking In Person Act 2007 which carries a maximum 20 years’ jail and fine.
