KUCHING: Titijaya Land Bhd (Titijaya) launched the Group’s aid organisation, Titijaya Foundation at a celebratory event held this evening at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

According to a press release, the launching of the Foundation was very meaningful event for Tan Sri Lim Soon Peng as it is also in conjunction to Titijaya’s first anniversary of its listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on November 27, 2013.

The institution of Titijaya Foundation is an effort of Titijaya’s vision and mission in establishing their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

The group believes in supporting and improving the society at large in which they are present. Titijaya will be donating a total of RM1 million to the establishment of this Foundation.

The Foundation’s first activity shall be a contribution to the Love and Care Charitable Association whose main objective is to help reduce starvation and prevent food wastage, implemented under the Lim Association.

The Association will provide three meals daily to the poor regardless of race, colour or creed.

Lim found that there were many people, especially women who wanted to start up a small business, were facing extreme difficulty in securing financial support. Lim then proposed to the Prime Minister to initiate a grant to support and assist these women.

The proposal was approved by the Government and fully supported Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Personally at that point of time, I thought it was a worthy cause when you can be the small puzzle piece that can help these career minded women to achieve sustainable life success.” commented Lim.

“Whether it is promoting women entrepreneurship, to help schools, students, school bus drivers, truck drivers, taxi drivers, people with disabilities, the objective of the Foundation is to support the society within our capabilities.

“A small step for a better tomorrow,” he further added.
