KUCHING: The National Unity and Integration Department has 19 volunteer patrol programmes and 19 safety briefing programmes planned for Sarawak this year.

Officer Abdul Rasid Mahsin said 11 programmes have been implemented while the rest would be completed next month.

“The programmes organised by JPNIN are in line with the government’s needs which aim to foster good relations and cooperation with various related agencies,” he said at the Kuching-level Jom Patrol Programme Version 3.0 on Wednesday.

“Moreover, the sharing sessions held through such programmes also ensure the success of law enforcement.”

The Volunteer Patrol Programme is supported by various agencies including the police, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Armed Forces, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), Civil Defence Department, National Anti-Drugs Agency, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and Fire and Rescue Department.
