KUCHING: The Forestry Department seized 277 logs at Kubah National Park, Matang here yesterday.
They also seized a machine believed to have been used to carry out the illegal activity.
The illegal logging activity occurred outside the proposed Kubah National Park Extension II area, and Forestry Department director Sapuan Ahmad confirmed the seizure when contacted yesterday.
“Surprise survey operations will be carried out in hotspot areas, and survey operations from the air will be carried out as well to determine the real location of these illegal activities,” he said, adding that efforts to stop illegal logging would continue to protect the nation’s resources.
