GUA MUSANG: Some 400 farmers in this district incurred losses of around RM1.75 million when 700 cows bred by them were lost, believed due to theft, in the last four years.

Kelantan Ruminant Breeders Association chairman Zulkifli Md Zain said from January to October this year, 150 cows had gone missing, involving a loss of around RM375,000.

“The cows which were stolen were bred at oil palm estates run by Felda, Kesedar and the Sungai Terah farm here,” he told reporters during his visit to the livestock breeding area in Kampung Aring here yesterday.

Zulkifly said most of the livestock stolen were suspected to be sold outside Kelantan including in Kuala Lumpur, to avoid being tracked by the authorities and the farmers. — Bernama
