KENINGAU: District Officer Haji Yusop Haji Osman said that the government is giving priority to the application of urgent projects.

He said although many applications have been received by the District Office, the government resolved that urgent projects should be given first priority.

“This is for the convenience of the residents that need this facilities, including school children,” he said while speaking at the water tank handing over ceremony and officiating a suspension bridge at Kampung Pampang Masjid here yesterday.

Yusop, who represented Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, said the government always checked all the applications made by people from 168 villages in the district.

However, he said urgent projects would be given priority, including the suspension bridge for the village.

“I believe that with these facilities, residents in this village, especially school children, can use it as a shortcut to school.

“I also ask people to continue to provide support to the government, whose role is to provide facilities to the people besides to continue to support the leadership of these areas, especially Pairin who is Keningau member of parliament and Liawan assemblyman Datuk Haji Sairin Karno,” he said.

Yusop also said that he was willing to help the people who want to do business on a small scale by opening business stalls in the village.

At the event, Yusop opened the suspension bridge and handed over water tanks to 68 villagers of Kampung Pampang and Masjid.
