KUALA LUMPUR: Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday officiated at the Creative Women Exhibition 2014 organised by the Wanita Umno Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Secretariat under the wing’s Economic Bureau.

Muhyiddin also spent time visiting the exhibition area on the fifth floor of the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) which showcased the creative skills of women entrepreneurs through batik, embroidery and woven products, among others.

Speaking to reporters after the launch, the secretariat’s chairman, Datuk Noraini Ahmad said the programme aimed to promote traditional handicraft products by small rural entrepreneurs.

“We also hope this programme will become a platform for business matching for our entrepreneurs,” she said.

Noraini said the secretariat was in its final stage of developing a database of women entrepreneurs which will provide them opportunities to carry out business matching and promotion online.

“The database will gather local women entrepreneurs and become a meeting point for buyers and sellers of various products which may be sold lower than its normal price,” she added. — Bernama
