KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Aeon Foundation (MAF), Aeon’s charity arm for more than a decade, has launched the much-anticipated ‘Back to School’ campaign and ‘E-Donation’ drive.

Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Datuk Seri Hasan Malek, who officiated at the event, highlighted the importance of supporting Made in Malaysia products.

The ‘Back to School’ campaign will see MAF contribute close to RM200,000 for 450 underprivileged children to have an unforgettable shopping experience at selected Aeon stores and Aeon Big outlets for essential school items including uniforms, school bags and stationery.

“Aeon is all about reaching out, touching lives and changing things for the better. We are known to be the only retailer that has our own charity foundation in Malaysia,” said Aeon Foundation president Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof.

“The Malaysian Aeon Foundation prides itself on putting smiles on the faces of the underprivileged children through a series of meaningful charitable events.”

The children are from Rumah Wawasan Sitiawan (Perak), Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Sanathana Dharma Ashram Sitiawan (Perak), Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Alam Damai Cheras (Kuala Lumpur), Cornerstone Homes Semenyih (Selangor), Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Dewi Illam
Rawang (Selangor), Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari Johor, Persatuan Kebajikan Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Seri Cempaka Pantai Dalam (Kuala Lumpur), Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-anak Setiawangsa (Kuala Lumpur) and Asrama Penyayang Nur Iman Setapak (Kuala Lumpur).

Aeon Co (M) Bhd also activated the MAF online donation system called ‘E-Donation’ (edonation.aeonretail.com.my) for the public to contribute and pledge their support for the less fortunate through online and mobile payment channels.
