JOHOR BAHARU: Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan has urged the people of Sabah to stop pointing fingers on matters regarding issuance of identity cards to foreigners.

They should instead look into finding solutions on ways to tighten border security and enforcement and develop the economy of Sabah.

“For 30 years we have been trying to identify those responsible for the action and the time has come for Sabahans to focus on more important matters in finding solutions.

“As an example, how can we further tighten procedures in obtaining identity cards and issuing citizenship to foreigners?” he told a press conference after officiating at the Johor state fire and rescue department (JBPM) headquarters, here yesterday.

He said a report by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the issue had stated that economic factors were among the cause of the influx of foreign nationals from Philippines to Sabah. — Bernama
