Walkathon in conjunction with World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: To raise road-safety awareness among the public especially road-users, the Brunei Darussalam National Road Safety Council continues to organise various events and campaigns on such a cause, Brudirect reported.

The agency through the Land Transport Department (LTD) organised an aerobic exercise and walkathon in conjunction with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2014. The event took place yesterday at the Ministry of Communications area in Jalan Menteri Besar.

Taking part in the event was the Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar as the Adviser of the National Road Safety Council.

The event began with the mass aerobic session, with over two hundred members of the council taking part. Yang Berhormat Pehin participated in the walkathon for a distance of 3.5 kilometres, starting from the vicinity of Ministry of Communications. Meanwhile, the women participants walked a distance of 2.5 kilometres.

Also present was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Awg Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Yusof as the Chairman of the National Road Safety Council.
