Two killed, two injured in accident on Bukit Jalil highway

KUALA LUMPUR: Two people were killed and another two seriously injured in an accident involving two vehicles on the Bukit Jalil Highway, near the Technology Park Malaysia exit, here, this evening.

Kuala Lumpur police investigation and traffic law officer, DSP S. Markandan said the initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Proton Wira in which the four victims were travelling, had lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a road divider in the 6pm incident.

“The car then entered the opposite lane and collided with a Mazda 3 before it was dragged several metres away.

The Mazda 3 woman driver escaped with light injuries.

“The driver and front seat passenger of the Proton Wira sustained serious injuries while the two back seat passengers, a man and a woman, died at the scene,” he said in a press statement, here, tonight.

Firemen from the Bukit Jalil Fire and Rescue station, were rushed to the scene to extricate the victims trapped in the mangled vehicle.

The victims have yet to be identified, said Markandan.

He said the injured were rushed to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital, while the bodies were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital. — BERNAMA
