Unemployed claims trial to robbing reflexology worker

KUCHING: An unemployed man charged with robbing a reflexology worker at Foochow Road here last week claimed trial in a Sessions Court here yesterday.

The accused, Wan Mohamad Illyasaq Wan Eliya, appeared before judge Amelati Parnell who ordered him to be further remanded in jail pending disposal of the case.

Amelati fixed Jan 19 for the case to be mentioned before her again.

The accused allegedly robbed the female victim in the centre at Jalan Foochow sometime early last month and took away cash amounting to RM900, foreign currencies and a mobile phone.

He allegedly used a parang when committing the offence with a few others still at large.

Armed gang robbery, under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code comes with a maximum jail sentence of 20 years upon conviction.
