KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday dismissed an application by a teacher who wanted to get back her RM50,000 cash which was seized by the Royal Malaysian Police.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus made the decision after hearing submissions from the applicant’s counsel, Peter Allion, and deputy public prosecutor Afzan Abd Kahar for the respondent.

Earlier, the counsel submitted that the applicant was one of the victims in a case involving a woman from Terengganu, who faces a charge of cheating the property agent of a company.

Peter also said his client requested for her money to be returned to her as she wanted to build her house on her own property.

The respondent objected to that application, saying that the cash seized by the police from the accused in this case was the subject matter of an investigation under the Penal Code and under the Anti-Money Laundering Act by Bukit Aman.

In short, the respondent submitted that the investigation was still on-going.
