IPOH: The Perak government today refuted an allegation by State Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin that the live streaming of his debate in the state legislative assembly via portal PerakNews.com was intentionally disrupted.

State Youth, Sports, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya said the state government was not so “dumb” as to do that in this era of a borderless world.

“Any disruption of live streaming of the state assembly meeting is purely unintentional. No directive was issued to any quarters to interrupt the live streaming for political reasons,” he said when winding up debate on the 2015
State Budget in the State Assembly today.

He said there was also disruption during the live streaming of the debate by government back-benchers.

The disruption during Mohammad Nizar’s speech was for less than five minutes due to poor Internet access during the peak period, he added.

He said a similar situation occurred when Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir was tabling the state budget.

“It is because of technical problems,” he added.

On another matter, Shahrul Zaman said the state government was mulling the idea of a private fund initiative to improve sports infrastructure in Perak.-Bernama
