SEGi turns 38, offers scholarships worth RM38 million

KUCHING: SEGi University and Colleges will be celebrating its 38th anniversary by offering RM38 million worth of scholarships to new students.

According to SEGi College Sarawak principal Elina Tiu, the scholarships will enable more people to have access to affordable and quality education.

“It will be good for those who cannot afford to study but yet wish to get a world-class qualification. The scholarships are open to all Malaysians.

“One of the unique scholarships is the Promising Minds Fund, in which students only need to pay RM100 to start a programme of their choice. They will receive up to RM6,000 in grants and annual scholarship when they maintain CPGA3.5,” she told a press conference.

Besides the Promising Minds Fund, there is the High Achiever’s Scholarship, which is full scholarship on SEGi tuition fees for 10As and above in SPM. Students will get up to 75 per cent rebate on tuition fees and waiver of RM500 for every A scored in SPM.

There is also the Earn As You Learn Fund, specially catered for young adults who are in full-time employment but have yet to pursue higher education. They will get rebates that cover PTPTN for programmes in Business, IT, Hospitality and Communications.

With various special rebates and scholarships offered, an affordable education is now possible for everyone.

Meanwhile, Tiu was also proud to informed that SEGi University and Colleges recently won the Brand Excellence Award 2014 to 2015 in London, United Kingdom.

“SEGi was the only winner from Malaysia to have won the award in the Education category at the World Branding Awards, which is the premier awards that see some of the world’s best brands recognised for their work and achievements. The other winner in the Education category was University of Oxford,” she revealed.

Also present at the press conference were sales and marketing director Victor Loong, Student Recruitment and Corporate Affairs senior manager Angrez Singh Sandhu and Sales and Marketing assistant manager Kelvin Sieh.
