SANDAKAN: Marine police have detained a 24-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to embezzle 1,508 litres of subsidised petrol and diesel worth RM38,407.
Marine Sabah region commander ACP Mohamad Madun said the suspect was in a lorry when he was intercepted at a petrol station here during an operation at 9.45 am, yesterday.
He said 65 containers filled with 1,478 litres of petrol and 30 litres of diesel were found in the lorry.
“The man came under suspicion when he failed to produce a purchase document for the fuel,” he said in a statement. — Bernama
