LUBOK ANTU: There has been no illegal logging activity on both sides of the Malaysia-Indonesia border in the Sri Aman Division detected so far.

Third Brigade Infantry commander Brig Gen Mohd Yusoff Aziz confirmed this, but added that the armed forces of both countries were monitoring the situation.

Speaking to reporters during the closing of the Malaysian Armed Forces-Indonesian National Army AD Series 2/2014 Coordinated Patrol at JPG Camp here yesterday, he said a total of 42 personnel from both countries were involved in the border patrol in the division.

Indonesia’s Infantry commander Lt Col Agus Prasetyo Ari Wibowo was also present.

“Based on the reports from our men stationed at Nanga Badau, Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu and Lubok Antu, Sri Aman, we have yet to detect any case of illegal logging. Still should there be such cases or any other crimes, we will mete out stern actions against the offenders,” said Yusoff.

Meanwhile, the Third Brigade Infantry chief hoped that the good cooperation between the Malaysian and Indonesian armed forces would continue.

For the record, the state shares a border spanning 2,019.5km with Kalimantan.
