KUCHING: A teenager was injured in a road accident at Jalan Simpang Tiga when attempting to avoid a police roadblock on Saturday night.
In the 11pm incident, the 19-year-old motorist who was with a friend attempted to reverse to avoid the roadblock, but collided with a car coming out from a junction.
It was learnt that the car belongs to his friend’s brother.
The teenager was hurt in the accident, while his friend and the driver of the other car were unhurt.
During the roadblock, the police team checked more than 200 vehicles and used the breathalyser on motorists to check their blood alcohol level.
Numerous offenders were issued summonses for using strobe lights and illegal registration plates.
