PAKAN: A legendary stone, which sits majestically in the middle of Sungai Bajut besides Rumah Eba Chili, Mile 8, Entabai/Engkamop, has ‘power’ to draw tourists off the beaten path.

According to folklore, the stone, locally known as ‘Batu Kudi’, possesses power for curing mysterious illness, as well as for seeking blessings and protection from evil spirits.

But taboos abound for the uninitiated who seek its strange power for cure or to ward off evil.

Those who want to ‘romance the stone’ are advised to find out first from local folk the do’s and don’ts or beware of the unexpected.

Social Development Minister Tan Sri William Mawan has his own reason to make his annual ‘pilgrimage’ and make a special offering to the stone.

Last Sunday, Mawan was there again to donate a pig to the people of Rumah Eba for the simple offering ritual preceded by a ‘miring’.

Later, Mawan officiated at a ‘Jasamu dikenang’ and Back-to-School programme organised by Special Affairs Department (Jasa) at Rumah Eba.
