KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore and Malaysia can work closely in tackling issues such as terrorism in the region, said the republic’s new High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon.

“There are many challenges that affect the region which can also affect both countries, for example the fight against terrorism.

“I think the security agencies of both countries are working closely to tackle this common problem as well as many other issues that we can work together on,” he said after a meeting with Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman at Wisma Bernama here yesterday.

Menon said he also hoped to work towards bringing the bilateral ties to a higher level as both countries shared many things in common, including food and culture. — Bernama
