The Journey of Honor event which was held in Beijing, China today to celebrate Honor Brand’s one year anniversary had just ended in style.

Honorians all over the world are happy for Huawei’s subsidiary brand as the establishment of Honor Brand in producing affordable yet accommodating high performance products received an overwhelming response and praises from consumers over the past year.

During the event, four Honor products were introduced. They are Honor 6 Plus, Honor 4X, Honor Cube and Honor Plug.

The main highlight of the event falls on the Honor 6 Plus apparently. It is time for us to check out how does this 2014 Honor’s final flagship device weighs.

The Honor 6 Plus is sporting an enlarged 5.5 inch JDI Full HD negative LCD display compared to its predecessor which only has a 5 inch touchscreen. Earlier, there was a rumour stating that the Honor 6 Plus will be carrying a HiSilicon Kirin 930 processor, but the rumour is now dismissed as the new Honor flagship device is powered by their own Hi-Silicon Kirin 925 1.8GHz Octa-Core chipset with a low-power I3 coprocessor (for fitness tracking).

It is mated with 3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage with expandable microSD slot. The battery capacity receives a generous upgrade to 3,600 mAh while the Cat 6 4G LTE and InfraRed blaster features were inherited from the Honor 6. Android 4.4 Kitkat with EMUI 3.0 user interface is expected to be running on the Honor 6 Plus.

The major upgrade for the Honor 6 Plus is definitely lies on its dual camera at the back. The dual camera claims to be able to boost the effective pixel size to 1.98 microns for improved sensitivity hence images produced will turn out to be cleaner. Honor 6 Plus dual camera sensor allows you to refocus the photo you have taken (similar to the Lumia 1020 refocus), tweak their aperture and apply fun filters on it.

The 8 megapixel front-facing camera is also considered an upgrade from the Honor 6 as it brings better quality photos and the beautification feature for selfie as usual.

We will be seeing two versions of Honor 6 Plus available in the market. The 4G LTE Cat 6 version retail price is CNY 2,499 (about RM1,410), while the 3G variant is priced at CNY 1,999  (about RM1,129).

The Honor 4X on the other hand comes in a phablet-sized 5.5 inch 720p IPS screen, the phone sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad Core processor that features integrated 64-bit ARM-Cortex A53 that clocks at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage with the option to expand memory with micro SD card, the battery is non-removable with the capacity of 3,000 mAh.

The front camera is 5 megapixel, while the rear camera sports a 13 megapixel shooter with Sony’s second Generation backside-illuminated sensor that has a F2.0 aperture.

The FDD-LTE Honor 4X price is retailed at CNY 999 (about RM 564).

The new Honor TV Box is a Android tv box that comes with router capabilities. Regardless of its slim body, it is still able to squeeze in a LAN port, HDMI port, USB port, AV input and SD card slot. Spec wise, it is sporting a 1.5 GHz Quad Core Processor, 1 GB of RAM, VPX codec installed, and it supports H.265 4k hardware playback video, last but not least the implementation of Imprex video engine on it makes the device a strong contender in the market now.

This simple yet classy device cost only a mere CNY 298 (about RM 169) ! It is undoubtedly the bang for the buck in this event guys!

The CNY 99 ( about RM 56) Honor Home Plug was the last Honor product to be featured in the Honor event. This tiny gadget is capable to be used as a network repeater whereas once a LAN cable is insert into the ethernet port, the WiFi function will be activated instantly. However it should be noted that the Honor Home Plug only works in pairs. It is commonly used to strengthen WiFi reception from one partition to another.
