TUTONG: The Ministry of Home Affairs continues to implement projects to improve infrastructure facilities at Mukim and village level in Tutong District, Brudirect reported.
This is done through the Tutong District Office and in line with the department’s strategic goal of strengthening unity and harmony among the community.
This was stated by the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman in an interview with RTB during a working visit to the Tutong District.
Yang Berhormat said the measures taken by the district office included upgrading several community centres, renovating or demolishing and rebuilding old ones.
The Minister added so far work has taken place on three centre and more will be provided gradually.
Primary concern is for the villages to have a venue to conduct meetings and other activities.
Two community halls have been upgraded to community centres under the Tutong District Recreational and Sports Facilities Provision 2013/2014.
The Kg Luagan Dudok community hall in Mukim Keriam has been upgrade to a community centre.
Costing BND$86,745, it was completed last March and among other things has a meeting room and exhibition area.
Meanwhile, the Kampong Birau community hall in Mukim Kiudang was also upgrade to a community centre and completed last July. It cost BND$78,010 and has similar facilities.
Both centres were officiated by the Minister of Home Affairs.
The working visit included the vendors’ booths in Mukim Lamunin. The project is scheduled to be completed next month. The upgrading work involves five vendors’ booths.
The Minister and his delegation also visited upgrading projects of the Kg Lamunin Community Hall and landmark, and the cultural performance stage in the area that cost a total of around BND$80,000.
The delegation included Acting Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Legislative Council members and the Tutong District Officer, Awg Wardi Hj Md Ali.
