MIRI: Two brothers were each fined RM1,600 or five months’ imprisonment by the magistrate’s court here for illegally consuming dangerous drugs.
Chia Teck Onn, 33, and Chia Teck Hua, 26, both from Kampung Tudan here were charged under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB), 1952 (Act 234) punishable under Section 15 (1) of the same Act.
The maximum penalty for such offences is a RM5,000 fine or two years’ imprisonment.
The court was told that Teck Onn was found illegally consuming Ketamine, a dangerous drug listed under the First Schedule of ADB 1952 while Teck Hua was found guilty of abusing three dangerous drugs – Amphetamine, Ketamine and Methamphetamine. They tested positive for the drugs at Miri District Narcotics Crime Investigation Office at 7.45pm and 7.50pm respectively on May 9 this year.
