MIRI: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) here received about 11,000 new and updated applications for Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) since the updating and application process for 2015 was open on

Dec 1.

According to IRB Miri deputy director Achon Wahab, special counters had been set up at the ground floor of their office building especially for BR1M applicants.

“We have some 20 staff members working only on BR1M matters and the response from members of the public so far is very encouraging,” she said.

Apart from the staff, three computers were set aside to help applicants update their details online.

“For their convenience, they can also go online via the three computers located at the lobby. These computers are set up especially to speed up the process of updating BR1M,” she said.

She added that applicants have until Dec 31 to update their particulars while new applicants can also register for the assistance within the same period.

Meanwhile, Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin handed over 769 sets of BR1M updating forms and new BR1M applications to LHDN yesterday during a visit to see the updating and registration process. They were received
by Achon.

According to Lee, the forms were collected from residents of Riam and Tudan through a booth set up by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Miri at Emart Commercial Centre last weekend.

“SUPP Miri will also be setting up similar booth at Permy Mall this Saturday from 3pm to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 12 pm.

“We urge applicants to come personally to the booth to update their BR1M. We do not accept applications or updating of BR1M particulars by representatives except the owner of the application,” he stressed.
