SIBU: A decomposed body of an elderly woman was found sitting in a wheelchair at the guest room of a house at Lane 5, Gambir Road Thursday night.

Ling Kui Eng, 93, was staying with her son, 61, who was believed to have suffered from mental problem since Form Six.

Foul smell from Ling’s house prompted a neighbour to alert her family members.

When family members arrived, the son apparently stopped them from entering the house.

Police were summoned to the scene.

Ling was believed to have died since last Saturday.

Her second son, 67, did come to visit her last week but was prevented to enter the house by the 61-year-old brother.

In an unrelated case, police believed the cat hanging in front of a businessman’s house in Lada Road involved animal abuse.

They are investigating though the house owner did not lodge any report with the police.

The police went to the house after receiving a tip-off on Thursday afternoon.

In October, the owner survived an attack by a group of men.

Since then, he have been getting threatening phone calls.
