SIBU: Traders here are reminded to display pink price tags for the 12 essential items gazetted under the Christmas Price Control Scheme from Dec 23 till 27.

Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) Sibu branch head Kasim Mana said errant traders could be compounded on the spot.

“Throughout the duration of the scheme, traders must display clearly the pink price tags on the 12 items to facilitate consumers differentiating them from others.

“Failure to do so contravenes the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, where stern action can be taken against them,” Kasim replied to reporters after officiating at the launching of the scheme at Giant Hypermarket here yesterday.

Hypermarket general manager S Santhanam Sundram was also present.

The scheme is also applicable in Mukah, Dalat, Kanowit, and Selangau.

Asked if supply of essential items was sufficient for the coming festive season, Santhanam replied in the affirmative.
