MIRI: A man, in his 20’s, was nabbed by residents who spotted him attempting to steal a motorcycle parked at a government quarter’s porch in Krokop here early yesterday morning.

They immediately collared the suspect but his two accomplices managed to flee.

A police vehicle rushed to the scene after the incident was reported around 1am.

According to some of the residents, they had earlier that night spotted three males walking around the area suspiciously.

“It was heavy downpour that night, and I could not sleep…so I sat at the balcony of my house… that was when I spotted a man (referring to the suspect) ducking next to a motorcycle in a very suspicious way,” said one of the resident, who wished to be anonymous.

She immediately informed her husband.

“We managed to gather several residents and apprehended the suspect who was at that time very focus to unlock the motorcycle,” said Rustam Adam, one of the residents.

Unfortunately, two of the suspect’s accomplices fled the scene upon seeing residents swarmed the area, leaving their friend (the suspect) behind.

The suspect was brought to Miri central police station (CPS) to facilitate police investigation.
