SIBU: Police seized a homemade shotgun along with five bullets and a sickle from two men they arrested following a car pursuit early yesterday morning.

Sibu Police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said his men stopped a suspicious car with two men inside in Lanang Road around 4am.

The two men sped off when they saw police presence, driving pass Lanang Bridge toll station as the police vehicle tail-gated them.

When they turned into a road at Pulau Kerto, the driver lost control and stalled the car in a drain.

Both driver and passenger fled but were nabbed by the police.

They found the shotgun together with bullets and a sickle in the suspects’ car.

The two men, aged 41 and 20, claimed they were not the owners of the weapons.

They said they were told to send the weapons to Indonesia.

They have been placed under a five-day remand since yesterday.
