KUCHING: Eva Express Sdn Bhd (Eva) launched two new buses to transverse the Kuching – Pontianak route at Kuching Sentral here yesterday.

Eva’s chairman Abang Yassin Abang Zainudin officiated at the launch, witnessed by managing director Nelson Chiew and director Rose Pengiran.

“Each of this new bus ensures the safety and comfort of our passengers during their long journey,” said Chiew after the launch.

He also said the buses would leave Kuching for Pontianak on a daily basis at 7am and 9.30am for economy class, and 11.30am for the Super VIP.

Economy class tickets are priced RM60 per person while the Super VIP tickets go for RM80 per person.

He said the Super VIP bus fare was a bit more expensive as passengers would enjoy spacious leg room and extended reclining chairs with the 20 seats limit.

“Passengers can buy group tickets at a discounted price of RM75 per person,” he added.

Chiew said the company would replaced the old buses, which had been in service for at least six years.

“Each bus costs around RM470,000, but we will do this to remain competitive in the industry,” he added.

Other extras for the buses include the installation of Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system to keep track of the location and speed of the buses.

“Currently, 60 per cent of our buses are equipped with GPS,” he added.
