Motorcyclist and wife hurt in two-bike collision

KUCHING: A motorcyclist and his wife were seriously injured after a collision with another motorcycle near Kampung Rantau Panjang yesterday.

The couple, in their 70s, were heading home when they crashed into another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction around 11.30am.

The husband sustained a broken leg and also injuries on his body while his wife and the other motorcyclist were also hurt. All of them were rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in a anbulance.

Separately, two friends sustained broken legs after their motorcycle collided with a van at Jalan Stapok.

In the 8am incident, the van driver apparently lost control and rammed his vehicle into their motorbike, causing both to fall and sustained injuries.

An ambulance was called to the scene and both motorcyclist and pillion rider were rushed to SGH. Their condition is reported to be stable as at press time.
