Banjar catfish ready to be exported

MARTAPURA, South Kalimantan: Catfish production of Banjar District, South Kalimantan, which is derived from the cultivation of minapolitan and small-scale pond ready to be exported to meet the overseas market, Antaranews reported.

“The catfish production from minapolitan farming and pool farmers is large enough so that it can be exported,” said Regent Banjar Khairul Saleh in Martapura on Sunday.

He said, the outstanding of cultivated catfish, both in minapolitan and pool, is the size and weight that can meet the export standards.

He mentioned, the production of catfish per day meet the needs of three provinces in Kalimantan: South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.

According to him, the aquaculture in the district, in particular the type of catfish, in minapolitan has been successful enough and became the higher production per capita in South Kalimantan.

In addition to the highest production, the type of catfish is best cultivated in Indonesia, so it can be exported for overseas market demand.

Head of Banjar Marine Fisheries Noor Ifansyah Fani said it manages Fish Processing Unit (UPI) built since 2012 from the Special Allocation Fund.

UPI located in the village Cindai Alus equipped with Air Blast Freezer (ABF) capacity of 2 tons, Cold Storage for 2 tons of fish as well as the process chamber and completeness.
