Hope brings Christmas cheer to three Betong longhouses

KUCHING: Needy families in three longhouses in Betong can now look forward to a brighter Christmas after Hope Place heard their alarm bells jingle for help.

Wasting no time, a lorry carrying goods such as rice, cooking oil, biscuits, noodles, beverages, sugar and salt to ease festive expenditure, was dispatched to the longhouses yesterday.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan said a report was received recently on the predicament of those needy families identified living in these longhouses, namely Rh Skrang, Rh Entalun and Rh Pelasok.

He singled out Rh Pelasok as the most unfortunate because the longhouse was still not fully rebuilt since it was burnt down following a fire six years ago.

“This is a one-off project, meant as a Christmas gift for the needy families in those longhouses,” he said.
