MIRI: AmBank Group Club (KAG) brought cheer to 50 children from Methodist Church Tudan 2 with its `AmBank Group Back to School & Christmas Charity Programme’ at Boulevard Shopping Mall here yesterday.

The children, aged five to 12, seemed to have a good time shopping at the mall. They were each given a RM200 cash voucher to buy items such as shoes, uniforms, stationery, and new clothes for the Christmas festive season.

KAG president Syed Anuar Syed Ali, also the Group’s senior vice president cum Group corporate communications and marketing head, said the charity programme here was the final one after similar events in Kulai (Johor), Subang Jaya (Selangor), Raub (Pahang), Arau (Perlis), and Lahad Datu (Sabah).

All these events were held this month.

“This AmKasih initiative of ours focuses on reaching out to the community. It serves as the umbrella for all AmBank Group’s CSR (corporate social responsibility) efforts to help the community, particularly the underprivileged.

“In this case, it is the families that we are reaching out to help cushion their financial burden in getting their children ready for the new school year.

“We hope our contribution will bring cheer and smiles to all the beneficiaries.”

Syed Anuar said AmBank would continue to play its role to assist the community at large, irrespective of race, creed or religion.

“As in the past, KAG members contributed their time, effort, and money for several charitable causes.

“We are always on the lookout for projects of this nature in line with our role as a responsible corporate citizen.”

At the function, he gave the children money and gifts and also donated RM5,000 to Methodist Church Tudan 2.

Also present were AmBank (M) Berhad regional director (Sarawak) Simon Su Hiong Ting, district manager (Sarawak) Peter Hii Shiu Ming, Miri Beautiful Jade branch manager Bernard Wong, and Miri Boulevard branch manager Alvin Chua.
