SEPANG: Police are hunting down a man believed to be the main suspect connected to the criminal threat made towards three enforcement staff of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Jalan Dengkil-Puchong, near here.
Sepang District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Yusoff Awang said in the incident at 11.40am on Dec 16, Ang Gee Thiam, also called ‘Ah Thiam’, 24, who was believed to be driving a Toyota Hilux car, collided into a Proton Waja which three JPJ officers who had just completed the Ops Muatan, were in.
“After crashing into the Proton Waja, the suspect stopped his car by the roadside, got out of it and showed the sign ‘shoot’ to the three JPJ officers.
“The three officers did not respond but instead sped off and made a report at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters,” he told reporters after a ceremony to dispose of stolen computer products at the car park of the police patrol cars at the Sepang Police Headquarters here yesterday.
Mohd Yusoff said the three JPJ enforcement officers were not hurt in the incident and the case was being investigated under Section 506 and Section 279 of the Penal Code.
Subsequently, Mohd Yusoff said police had detained two suspects in their 20’s to assist in the investigation.
“Police also seized two Toyota Hilux cars in Banting the next day at 4 am,” he said.
Earlier, Sepang CID Chief, ASP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said Sepang police seized 1,947 gambling machines in 1,126 raids conducted within 12 months this year.
“The court has given permission to dispose 1,209 units of the gambling machines worth RM483,600,” he said.
Mohd Iqbal said police had opened 156 investigation papers under Section 4B (a) of the Common House Gambling Act 1953. A total of 77 investigation papers have been completed and 126 cases charged in court. — Bernama
