SIBU: Chu Kat Sin from Sabah defeated 39 others to emerge champion in the keenly contested Sibu Vengeance Cup 2014 – a 1:10 Scale Radio Control Electric Powered (EP) Touring Car race.

The two-day competition, which ended yesterday at the racing track of Wonderful Commercial Centre, Ulu Sungai Merah, was organised by Swan Radio Control Club (SRCC).

Competition organising chairman Andrew Ting Tai Guan said the participants were from Kuching, Miri, Sarikei, Sibu and Sabah.

The only female contestant was Haidah Hafni, a 19-year-old from Kuching.

Ting said the objectives of the contest were to foster fellowship among Radio Controlled (RC) Car enthusiasts from the different clubs in Sarawak and Sabah and to promote the game as a hobby.

Meanwhile, advisor to SRCC Simon Yii described RC car racing as fun and a thrill for both the participants and spectators.

“The game trains and improves one’s tolerance, patience, perseverance, leadership skills and discipline,” Yii pointed out.

He urged more people to join SRCC, which currently has about 50 members.
