KUCHING: Racial unity and political stability are the most important factors to attract foreign investment and to ensure rapid economic growth, said acting Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar.

In his Christmas message, he said the state would intensify economic and social developments for the benefit of the people.

He said projects within Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), which covers 57 per cent of the size of the state, was the catalyst to turn Sarawak into a developed state by 2020.

To ensure SCORE succeeds as planned, the government would continue to bank on human capital development, he said.

“The new generation must work hard to gain knowledge and technical skills in order to face challenges within SCORE. They must also aim high by going for further studies, at least until the degree level, and then master the profession they are in.

“We are now living the rat race, and whoever is slow will be left behind. It is also important for youths to adopt good work culture and ethics to ensure success in their chosen fields.”

Asfia said he was confident 2015 would continue to be stable and peaceful, especially for the state.

Asfia is the acting head of state as Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is away on leave.
