KUCHING: The state government’s decision to prohibit controversial academician Dr Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah from entering the state shows that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem means whatever he says.

Assistant Community Services Minister Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie said the action has also proven that the Chief Minister was serious when he repeatedly stated that he would never allow religious and racial bigots and extremists into the state, to maintain peace, stability and harmony in Sarawak.

“I fully support the Chief Minister’s statements and actions because we don’t want our peace and harmony that we have established and preserved for decades destroyed by extremists and bigots,” he said.

Nansian, who is Tasik Biru assemblyman, said this in response to the state’s decision to deny Ridhuan entry into Sarawak when he was invited to deliver a talk at a mosque in Sematan.

The National Defence University senior lecturer arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Friday morning but was advised to take a flight back to Kuala Lumpur after immigration authorities stopped him from entering.

“I also fully support the Moderation Movement by PM (Prime Minister) and we the overwhelming majority as moderates in Malaysia, must speak out against all forms of extremist views and actions that will make a mockery of our country which is to champion moderation.

“If we allow the very few extremists and religious bigots to tarnish the image of our country, they will create havoc if we don’t stop them,” he said in his statement to thesundaypost.

Nansian said he also salutes the Group of 25 Malay Moderates and Musa Hitam who openly voiced their views and opinions on moderation.

“I hope more of our top leadership will also speak out and take appropriate action to stop all these before it gets out of hand… God bless us if all that were to happen,” he disclosed.
