KOTA KINABALU: Tun Juhar Mahiruddin yesterday took his oath of office as Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri for the second term.

The swearing-in, in line with Article 4 of the Sabah State Constitution, was before Kota Kinabalu High Court judge, Datuk Nurchaya Arshad.

“I will protect and defend the Federal Constitution of Malaysia and the Sabah State Constitution,” Juhar declared at his swearing-in as the 10th Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri for the second term, at Istana Negeri, here.

Juhar, 61, appointed as Yang Dipertua Negeri on Jan 1, 2011, will hold the post for another four-year term from today.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, in his congratulatory speech and pledge of loyalty to Juhar, said the state government would carry out its responsibility of leading and administering Sabah with sincerity, dedication and honesty.

He said the state government was also grateful that over the last four years under the reign and guidance of Juhar, Sabah continued to enjoy peace, prosperity and development.

“Therefore, to keep the momentum of the development agenda and level of excellence, I urge all the leaders and people to continue to work together and be united and to enhance the spirit of oneness and cooperation among us.

“These are actually the key to the success and prosperity that we have enjoyed all this while,” he said. — Bernama
