ALOR SETAR: Kedah police have received four reports on bullying at a primary school here involving more than five pupils and a victim which went viral on social websites.

Kedah police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said the bullying case took place in September last year but no police reports were lodged on the incident until it was widely disseminated on social websites several days ago.

“The video shows five students bullying the victim, all are year six pupils,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Kedah police investigations found the incident took place two weeks after the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination but the victim did not suffer any injuries.

According to Zamri, there were no reports made on the incident earlier but yesterday four police reports were lodged by several parties after watching the video clip on social websites.

He said following the reports made last Saturday, police had opened an investigation paper under Section 147 of the Penal Code for causing unarmed riot.

In this regard, Zamri advised students not to resort to violence or bullying and should devote their full attention to their lessons.

“Students who were bullied or knew of any bullying incident should report to the police and due action will be taken,” he said. — Bernama
