Free bags and stationery for 1,000 Lambir pupils

MIRI: Some 1,000 pupils in Lambir constituency received school bags and stationery under the 1Malaysia People’s Foundation School Bags Programme.

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat said they were distributed to the pupils on Tuesday.

“These items were distributed in two stages, where the first stage was for Primary 1 pupils followed by pupils from poor families,” he told The Borneo Post after presenting school bags and stationery at SK Lambir Village on Tuesday.

A total of 562 school bags was distributed to Primary 1 pupils from 12 primary schools in Lambir.

They were SK Lambir Village (120 school bags), SK Temenggong Datuk Muip (225), SJK Tukau (30), SJK Chung Hua Bakam (14), SK Kampung Bakam (43), SK Kampung Beraya (15), SK Tawakal Satap (eight), SK Subak (eight), SK Keluru Tengah (20), SK Ulu Satap (10), SK Kelapa Sawit No 2 (31) and SK Kelapa Sawit No 1 (38).

He hoped they would help parents get their children equipped for school.

At the function, he has announced a RM5,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to SK Lambir’s parent-teacher association.

Later, he presented school bags at SJK Tukau and SJK Chung Hua Bakam where he announced a government grant of RM10,000 to repair the glass window of SJK Tukau, and another RM5,000 government grant to repair the rooftops of SJK Chung Hua Bakam’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) room.
