MIRI: The murky floodwaters brought an unlikely guest – a nine-foot long baby crocodile – to the backyard of a house on Friday morning in Batu Niah.

The discovery stunned the house owner and his family of five, who sounded the alarm to his neighbours for help.

“The discovery was so much more scary as the crocodile was trying to bite one of my hens,” said the house owner known as Anthony.

The house was located nearby Niah River.

According to Anthony, the water level had risen a bit due to the rain in the morning.

“Plus, this is a low-lying area,” explained Anthony.

They managed to catch the baby crocodile around 7.30am.

Sources added that one of Anthony’s children first heard strange noises coming from their back yard.

“It was around 3.30am,” said Anthony.
