SIBU: An 8-year-old boy from Ulu Sungei Merah was believed to have been abused by his 30-year-old stepmother.
On Jan 15, the teacher of the Primary Two pupil discovered bruises on his legs and hands.
The teacher did not suspect anything until the boy returned on Jan 21 with more bruises on his legs and hands.
When asked, the boy told the teacher he was beaten by his stepmother.
A police report was lodged.
The police have called in the stepmother to have her statement recorded.
The boy was later sent to the Sibu Hospital for observation.
The father of the boy, a 32-year-old mechanic, works in Selangau.
