BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Special Motor Vehicle Theft Anticipation Team established by Banjarmasin City Police arrested a motorcycle thief and had to shoot him for trying to fight, Antaranews reported.
“The perpetrator forced us to disable him with hot lead, because when caught trying to fight to escape,” said West Banjarmasin Police Chief Commissioner Wendi Othniel Simanjuntak here on Saturday.
He said the actor who was shot is known as LS (32), a resident of Tenggarong, East Kalimantan. The perpetrator was arrested by a special team combined with Banjarmasin West Police, while in Kapuas, Central Kalimantan.
The perpetrator was arrested for stealing a motorcycle on Friday (23/1) night at around 21:30 pm on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Complex Lumba-lumba, West Banjarmasin, and the victim has reported the incident.
Currently the perpetrators have been arrested in the West Banjarmasin Polisi station to undergo the process of investigation and examination of criminal acts that have been done.
“The legal process have done to the offender, and the offender status has been named as a suspect and in detention,” said the athletic man.
From the investigation, suspects charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) punishable by prison terms of five years.
